Athena Project Community Gathering

The Athena Project will be holding a remote community gathering on Sunday, March 20 at noon Pacific time for all interested alums who have been impacted by the Debevoise & Plimpton report and other events surrounding misconduct at Sonoma Academy. This meeting is open to all impacted alums, not just those who identify as survivors. We look forward to welcoming the broader community of alumni supporters to join us. Thank you for your patience as we have prioritized the needs of survivors.

The events and revelations of the last year and a half have had a tremendous impact on our community as a whole. It is okay to feel angry, sad, confused, or any combination of emotions. You are the only one who can ultimately define how you feel about the report and your high school experience. Our intention is to hold space for those present to process the emotions and memories that have surfaced as a result of understanding the scope of harm perpetrated by multiple trusted members of our high school community.

We expect that everyone who attends will be there in good faith, and will not engage in victim blaming or any other non-supportive behavior. While we want everyone present to feel comfortable sharing a wide range of authentic emotions, the safety and needs of all survivors, whether present or not, will continue to be at the forefront of these discussions.

As always, we expect complete confidentiality regarding each others’ identities, specific experiences, and all thoughts shared during the meeting. If you would like to join us, please DM us at our Instagram account @the_athenaproject or email us at info@theathenaproject.co and we will send you the Zoom link. Please feel free to share this announcement with any alumni who might be interested in attending.

We look forward to seeing and being in community with you all soon!

Best,

The Athena Project
